Our Living Room: Coffee Table Reveal

We've been in our new house almost two whole months already! I can't believe how fast time is flying by. We are slowly getting settled and starting to put together rooms. The first one on my list was the living room! Here's the space we had to work with.

Pretty bare and sad without any furniture in there. It didn't last long - we quickly filled the room up! One of the main issues I had was our coffee table. We purchased it when we lived in Georgia at Ikea and it was a great table -- but a little large for our current living room.

So, Nick and I had been on the hunt for a new table since we moved in. I was super happy when Nick can home with this beauty (not!) from our local DAV thrift store. Fortunately, I could see his vision and knew it'd be perfect once we were finished with it. The added bonus of this table -- there is a center drawer with a radio and record player!! A musical coffee table??? Yes please!

A little back story on this piece. First - it had no top. There should have been tile or wood inserts in the top, but those were conveniently missing. Hey, one less thing for us to throw away, so we were ok with it! Second - its ugly, but it was only $7.50! Score! We picked our paint color and got to work. There are two speakers on each end of the coffee table - I forgot to snap a before pic of these, but they were pretty ugly. To hide the ugliness we covered the speakers with a funky orange, blue and grey fabric. Final step was adding a new top and a few coats of poly - we choose to stain ours with Minwax's Jacobean.

Here's our living room with our old coffee table.

AND with the new coffee table!

A few days adding the new coffee table, we added this fun chevron wood wall art. My husband surprised me with it, isn't he the best? It fit the space perfectly and looks extra good hanging above our revamped cabinet.

We are one step closer to finishing the living room - yay!! More pictures to come, so stay tuned.

Happy Treasure Hunting,
